The Thanksgiving weekend is almost here. And, lucky for you, we’ve planned some fun day trips for you and the family to enjoy. So, pack up the car, remember the camera and get ready for a FLO-inspired long weekend.

Friday

Plug in and charge up at your FLO Home charging station. Don’t forget to pack some yummy snacks, grab a great music playlist and a copy of our long weekend suggested FLO pit stops. Tonight, put your feet up and relax; you’ve earned it this week!

Saturday

Rise and shine!

After a good night’s sleep, everyone is refreshed and ready for a fun Saturday. We’ve included a few options here, so everyone has something fun to do.

Start your day early and hit the road by 10 a.m. Head over to the Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre (North York), and charge your car at their FLO Level 2 charging station (1126 Finch Ave. West). Head over to Tim Hortons, a short four-minute walk away, and enjoy a delicious breakfast treat.

With a full belly and a Timmy’s to go, head back to the Electric Vehicle Discovery Centre. Take a look around, explore and learn more about electric vehicles in Canada! The visit should take around 45 to 60 minutes. Hop back in the car and get ready for the rest of today’s adventure.

If you need a quick top up, we recommend stretching your legs in Markham. FLO’s fast-charging station is located in the Civic Centre parking lot (101 Town Centre Blvd, Markham, ON L3R 9W3), which is conveniently located along the way to your next fun fall activity. While your vehicle is charging, take a walk around the 11.5-hectare park with its large reflecting pool, or explore the architectural design of Arthur Erickson who designed the brick and glass building in 1990.

If you don’t need a top up, then we are off to Whittamore’s Farm. The kids are sure to enjoy the autumn season and all the fun activities that you can do together at Whittamore’s Farm. Get lost in the corn maze, ride a wagon through the spooky forest, and choose from thousands of pumpkins to take home to carve and decorate. The kids will love the two-storey tree fort and slide, along with the chicken show and giant spider web climb.

Since you’re in the neighborhood, we’ve got one more fun and delicious activity planned for you. A quick 13-minute drive up the road you’ll find Markham’s Organics Family Farm. There, the whole family can pick a variety of apples, including Ambrosia, Liberty and Honey Gold. A bushel full of apples means everyone gets to help make apple pies tonight.

Sunday

Good morning!

The colours of fall are out in full force, the air is crisp and memories are ready to be made. Remember to pack your camera and some warm layers (maybe even a bicycle or two) as we make our way to Kelso Conservation Area.

There, you can take the chairlift up and down the hill for the best views of the autumn splendour! Paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks, as well as boat rentals are a great way to experience the reservoir. For those who want to avoid the water, there are many different hiking trails to choose from. Alternatively, set off on two wheels and pedal along the beautiful paths.

Time to charge up and warm up with a cup of Joe! FLO’s fast-charging station is available in Milton (20 Market Drive, Milton, ON L9T 3H5), near Starbucks (20 Market Drive, Milton, ON L9T 3H5), a short nine-minute drive away. With so many yummy choices, there is something for everyone at Starbucks. But if the tummies are rumbling, Swiss Chalet is a short two-minute walk away from your FLO charging station.

After some warm coffee and rotisserie chicken, hop back into your car for a quick 35‑minute drive to the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada. For over 17 years, this sanctuary has been providing a welcome and often life-saving peaceful haven for rescued equines (donkeys, mules and hinnies) who have been mistreated, or who can no longer be cared for by their owners. The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada is a not-for-profit organization, funded entirely by private donations.

Please note the sanctuary is only open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There, you can meet the donkeys in their world, brush a donkey and discover the wonder of connecting with one of these special animals. Also, you can watch a donkey care demonstration, or you can take a hike on one of the nature trails. Be sure to stop in at the Long Ears Boutique to pick up a souvenir.

If you need a quick top up before making your way home, FLO’s fast-charging station (218 Silver Creek Parkway N, Guelph, ON G9N 0A3) is just a short 14-minute drive up the road. There, you can stop at Food Basics and pick up any last-minute items for your Thanksgiving dinner.

Monday

Happy Thanksgiving!

Before heading out on today’s adventures, dress the turkey, put it in the oven and set the timer before heading out. Make your way to St. Joseph’s Health Centre to charge your car at the FLO Level 2 charging station or fast-charging station (30 The Queensway, Toronto, ON M6R 1B5).

Just a short 10-minute walk away is the entrance to High Park. Enjoy a leisurely stroll with the kids, and take them to High Park Zoo, where you will find bison, deer, llamas, peacocks and highland cattle walking around. The park is also home to a playground where the kids can play to their heart’s content.

With adventures had and memories made, make your way back home to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving feast. Celebrate family and friends, and reflect on a long weekend spent in each other’s company.
