FLO unveils its first fast charging station in Alberta

FLO, the largest electric vehicle charging network in Canada, is proud to announce the commissionning of its first fast charging station in Alberta.

The station is installed at the all-new Simons store at Londonderry Mall, Edmonton.

This deployment marks an important step in the development of a comprehensive EV charging network in Alberta, as this is the first universal fast charging station in the province.

Alberta currently has the fourth highest number of registered electric vehicles in Canada, behind Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.

The charger is compatible with vehicles equipped with CHAdeMO (Nissan Leaf, Kia Soul, BMW i3, Tesla Model S with adapter) or SAE Combo (Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Ioniq, Volkswagen e-Golf) charging ports.

The site is also equipped with two Level 2 charging stations, which are compatible with all models of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Fast-charging stations will charge most vehicle to 80% of their capacity in about 20-30 minutes, while Level 2 charging stations provide up to 30 km of range per hour of charging (50 km in 90 minutes)

Electric vehicle drivers must be FLO members to use the charging stations. They will then be able to activate the station using their FLO membership card or FLO mobile app, available for iOS and Android.
